Single-dose and lyophilized skincare: the four formats we actually run
Unit-dose and dry formats come up in most new brand briefs now, and the questions are always the same: what is the fill, how does it activate, what is the minimum order, and can you make the variant on my mood board. Here is what we run today, with the real MOQ and lead times rather than a generic capability claim.
Single-dose serum
What it is for: One-shot dosing without a pump or dropper — travel sizes, sampler sets, and actives your brand wants measured per application rather than poured.
What you specify: Fill volume, vial/ampoule format and closure, actives, carton and label.
Single-dose PDRN serum
What it is for: Same unit-dose logic applied to a PDRN / salmon DNA serum, where the format is part of the product story rather than just the packaging.
What you specify: Concentration, dose volume, secondary packaging that keeps the units upright.
Lyophilized peptide mask
What it is for: A mask format where the peptide system is presented in lyophilized form as part of the sheet build — used when a brand wants the tech story on the front of the pouch.
What you specify: Peptide system, sheet material (crystal collagen), reconstitution route, pouch format.
Water-activated freeze-dried sheet mask
What it is for: A dry sheet that activates on contact with water, so the pouch ships without a free-liquid fill. Popular for retail novelty and for brands fighting shipping weight.
What you specify: Activation time, the water volume the consumer adds, sheet weight, pouch and carton artwork.
What stays the same across all four
- Stability work runs with sampling. Accelerated and long-term stability (3–6 months), compatibility and microbial challenge testing are part of a formulation project, not an add-on.
- Private label from 500 units per SKU on an existing formula; standard catalog production from 1,000.
- The factory is the same plant for all four: 8 production lines, a Grade D cleanroom (measured 126,079 particles/m³ against a 3,520,000 limit), and an in-house microbiology laboratory.
- Export paperwork travels with the goods — sea-freight IMDG Code reports and an IATA DGR report for air freight, downloadable from our certifications page, with goods loading at Zhongshan or Guangzhou Port.
Buyer questions
Do you manufacture lyophilized pellets or lyobeads?▾
Our lyophilized capability today is in sheet-format masks and in single-dose liquids — a freeze-dried sheet that activates with water, a lyophilized peptide mask, and single-dose serums. If your project specifies lyophilized pellets or beads in a vial, tell us the fill weight and the vial format and we will confirm whether we can quote it rather than assume we can. We would rather decline a format than quote one we have not run.
How does a freeze-dried mask work for the consumer?▾
The pouch holds a dry sheet. The consumer opens it, adds the stated volume of water, and the sheet rehydrates before application. That is why the activation time and the water volume are the two specifications that matter most: they are what the instruction panel has to state precisely.
What is the minimum order for these formats?▾
1,000 units or pieces per SKU is the standard catalog minimum across all four formats above; private-label runs on an existing formula can start lower, from 500 units per SKU. MOQ does not change by format or destination market.
Does the format change the documentation a market needs?▾
The document set is driven by the product and its claims, not by the format: cosmetic notification and safety documentation (for example CPSR and CPNP notification support for the EU, MoCRA facility registration for the US) plus stability and microbiological reports per SKU.
