Under-eye patches: five formats, one packaging decision that changes the economics
Under-eye patches look like a simple SKU and are not: the format sets the claim, the pad shape sets the serum load, and the pair-versus-jar decision moves the retail price more than the formula does. Here is how the five formats differ, and what a brand has to decide before sampling.
Five formats
Hydrogel / crystal gel pad
The volume format: a crescent gel pad that holds serum against the orbital area. Our Aloe crystal collagen under-eye listing has recorded 1,000 pcs sold at US$0.20–0.23 per piece on our Alibaba.com storefront.
Dark Circle Correcting Hydrogel Sleep Eye Patches →24K gold hydrogel
Gold foil or gold-flake gel for the premium shelf. Same production line as the standard gel pad — the difference is the film and the visual, not the plant.
24K Gold Lightening Hydrogel Eye Patches →Mesh & dry-gel (botanical)
Mesh-backed collagen crystal gel and dry-gel pads with green tea or centella, chosen when a brand wants a matte finish or lighter shipping weight.
Green Tea Centella Dry Gel Under Eye Mask →Microneedle patches
Dissolving micro-cone patches for the targeted actives story. Higher unit cost, smaller runs, and worth a separate conversation about actives and wear instructions.
Microneedle Anti Wrinkle Collagen Eye Patches →Reusable silicone
Washable silicone pads that work by occlusion and can be positioned over a serum. Sold as an item rather than a consumable, so a tin or pouch replaces the sachet.
Reusable Silicone Topical Eye Patches →What you specify
- Pad shape and die-cut — crescent, teardrop, oversized or novelty; the drawing decides how much product sits against the skin.
- Serum load and thickness — a thicker gel holds more serum and reads as more premium, but it also shifts the unit cost and the pack height.
- Actives — collagen, HA, caffeine, peptides, PDRN or botanical extracts, at the concentration your positioning needs.
- Wear time — a 15-minute express pad and an overnight sleep patch are different specifications, even from the same line.
- Packaging — individually sealed pairs, box sets, a 30-pair jar, or a tin for reusable silicone.
- Disposable or reusable — reusable silicone changes the retail story and the repeat-purchase maths entirely.
Eye-area production conditions
This is the check most brands skip. Producing for the eye area is a production-condition question as much as a formula question: our NMPA cosmetics production licence 粤妆20160335 covers the eye-area skincare production conditions, and the certified scope of our SGS-issued certificates names eye masks alongside facial, lip, hand, foot, neck and hair masks. Both numbers are published on our certifications page so a buyer can check them against the issuing bodies.
Buyer questions
Pairs in a sachet, or a jar of 30 — which packaging do buyers order?▾
Both, and the choice is usually about channel rather than cost. Individually sealed pairs suit travel retail and subscription boxes; a jar of 30 pairs is what a brand selling on marketplaces usually asks for, because it lifts the average order value and reads as a month of treatment. One recent enquiry we quoted was exactly this: a 30-pair jar for a US under-eye brand. Tell us the channel and the jar/sachet decision follows.
What is the MOQ and lead time for under-eye patches?▾
1,000 pairs or units per SKU is the standard catalog minimum across the eye-care range, quoted at approx. 20 days after confirmation (one specification runs approx. 20 days). Platform listings for the same products carry their own minimums — that is set per listing, not per product family. MOQ does not change by destination market.
Does eye-area production need anything extra?▾
It needs the production conditions, not just the formula. Our NMPA cosmetics production licence (粤妆20160335) includes the eye-area skincare production conditions, and the certified scope of our SGS-issued GMPC / ISO 22716 certificates names eye masks explicitly. That is the part of the paperwork a brand selling eye products should check first, and both numbers are published on our certifications page.
Can the pad shape and the serum be customised independently?▾
Yes. Shape and die-cut are one decision (crescent, teardrop, oversized, or a novelty shape), and the serum and active level are another. Both are settled at sampling: the shape determines how much product sits against the skin, so changing one usually means re-quoting the other rather than swapping it in for free.
Send the shape you have in mind, the channel you are selling through and your market — you will get the format recommendation, packaging options, MOQ, lead time and the eye-area documentation list back.
