Face mask manufacturing: eight formats, and the numbers behind each
Face masks are the category where our own listings do the arguing. Below is each format we run with the volume it has actually recorded on our Alibaba.com storefront, the minimum order attached to it, and the product page behind it — so a brand can decide on evidence instead of a material datasheet.
The formats we run
Crystal hydrogel bio-collagen sheet
The volume format in this category. Our crystal bio-collagen mask listing has recorded 183,688 pcs sold and a second hydrogel collagen listing 97,213 pcs, both at US$0.35–0.45 per piece on our storefront. Thick gel, high serum load, sticks without dripping.
24K gold collagen lift hydrogel
Gold foil or gold-flake gel for the premium tier — and the highest-volume single listing we run: 131,689 pcs sold at US$0.50–0.80 per piece.
Vitamin C jelly hydrogel
Jelly-cast sheet with a visible serum layer — 87,506 pcs sold on the listing behind it. The format brands pick when the retail story is an active ingredient rather than a material.
Peel-off night wrapping
Applied as a film, peeled off in one piece after sleeping. 18,741 pcs sold at US$0.95–1.40 — the highest per-piece price in our mask range, because it behaves like a treatment rather than a sheet.
Bio-cellulose
Fibre sheet that sits closest to the skin and is the most expensive of the sheet materials, so it usually appears in a hero SKU rather than the opening price point.
Clay and wash-off
Wash-off formats where the base is the product: kaolin and bentonite with actives added. Also the lowest minimum in the mask range, which makes it a common first SKU for a new brand.
Dry formats (freeze-dried / lyophilized)
A dry sheet that activates with water, or a mask built around lyophilized peptides. Lighter to ship and distinctive on shelf; the activation spec becomes the instruction panel.
Thick crystal cast (premium gel)
A cast gel sheet with more material per unit. The minimum is correspondingly higher — 5,000 units on one of our crystal specifications — which is why brands usually validate demand before committing to it.
What you specify
- Sheet material and gauge — crystal hydrogel, bio-cellulose, non-woven or tencel, and the thickness that decides how much serum the sheet holds.
- Serum load — the millilitre figure that goes on the pouch; it is the single biggest driver of both unit cost and perceived quality.
- Cut — face shape, eye and mouth openings, and whether the sheet is single-piece or overlay.
- Packaging — single-sheet foil pouch, single sachet, multi-packs of 5 or 10, or box sets of 5–20 pieces.
- Actives and claim set — what the sheet is said to do, which in turn sets the documentation your market will ask for.
The plant and the paperwork
Masks run on 8 production lines in a 3,886 m² GMPC cleanroom, with automatic crystal-mask filling, a Grade D cleanroom measured at 126,079 particles/m³ against a 3,520,000 limit, and an in-house microbiology laboratory. GMPC, ISO 22716 and the US FDA facility registration are all published with their certificate numbers, and the transport classification reports for sea and air freight are downloadable — which matters, because a filled pouch is exactly what a carrier asks about.

Which mask format should a new brand launch with?▾
Look at what already sells before picking a favourite. On our own listings the crystal hydrogel bio-collagen sheet moves 183,688 pcs and 97,213 pcs, the gold hydrogel variant 131,689 pcs, and the jelly hydrogel 87,506 pcs — all at the accessible end of the price range. The cast crystal sheet at 5,000 units and the bio-cellulose at the top of the material cost are the ones to add once the first SKU has proven sell-through.
What is the MOQ and lead time for sheet masks?▾
The standard catalog minimum is 1,000 pcs or units per SKU, with private-label runs on an existing formula able to start lower. Lead time runs 12–18 working days for the specification that quotes that way, 18–25 working days for the freeze-dried format, and approx. 20 days where new tooling or custom formulation is involved. MOQ does not change by destination market.
Does the sheet material really matter, or is it marketing?▾
It matters for three physical reasons: how much serum the sheet holds, how well it stays in contact with the face, and how it feels in the hand. A crystal hydrogel holds more and clings; bio-cellulose conforms better but costs more; non-woven is the cheapest and driest of the three. Those differences show up in the reviews, which is why we send material samples rather than describing them.
What documentation comes with a mask order?▾
Stability and microbiological test reports per SKU, MSDS, COA and the INCI list, plus the export paperwork for the shipping mode — our IMDG Code reports for sea freight cover the facial mask, eye mask, foot mask and anti-frizz stick specifications, and an IATA DGR report covers the skin care mask sheet for air freight.
